The publication approaches the events, accomplishments and achievements of ABRASTA, the news on the treatment, in addition to clarifications on rights of the patients or as regards the disease, the medications and the effects to health.

with a new graphic design, which rendered it more dynamic and interactive, and content revised by a scientific committee comprised of local and international experts, this website of ABRASTA (www.abrasta.org.br) was improved to become reference in thalassemia.

Epidemiologic research
Periodically carried out together with the directors of the treatment centers deemed reference in the country. The goal is to raise information on the patients' ages, type of thalassemia, details and evolution of the treatment offered, hindrances that still prevent full adhesion to the care, among others.

National register
Upon assistance of a specific software, ABRASTA knows exactly what are the people bearing thalassemia and professionals involved to the treatment of thalassemia in the country. It makes it easy for recognizing the profile and the needs of this community. Currently, the register gathers the data from 759 patients, 48 relatives, 454 physicians and 379 health professionals.
Patient Schedule
A creative form of encouraging adhesion to the treatment. The schedule, which always brings a message for adhesion to the treatment – such as blood donation, was especially prepared so that the patient may better control his/her care to health. For that, it offers in its pages a checklist of the most important exams, as well as space to schedule the days and times for using the chelating agents and for blood transfusion.
